National Research Council Canada Awards AMI SOFC Test Stand Contract
Calgary - June 5, 2003 - Advanced Measurements (AMI) announced today they have been selected by the National Research Council Canada Institute for Fuel Cell Innovation (NRC-IFCI), headquartered in Vancouver, BC, to provide a dual solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) test stand for its research and development of SOFC's.
"We are extremely pleased to receive this order from NRC-IFCI," said Steve Conquergood, founder of AMI. "The award of this contract further demonstrates Advanced Measurements' ability to provide solid oxide fuel cell test stands to world-class research facilities.
The dual test stand will provide testing capability for low flow fuel cells up to 100W as well as higher flows in the range of 1 kW. Advanced Measurements was selected on the basis of its advanced capabilities in system design, performance, reliability, ease of use, and its ability to work with NRC-IFCI to provide an optimized total system package.
"We offer our customers expertise in the area of SOFC Test Stands, produce consistent, high quality data, and provide easy-to-use software. In addition, we are a Canadian-based business," says Conquergood.
Advanced Measurements, a Calgary based test and measurement company, is a world leader in producing custom-designed solid oxide fuel cell test stands.
NRC-IFCI provides research and innovation support to the emerging Canadian fuel cell industry. In partnership with industry, universities, and other government agencies, NRC is helping to catalyze the growth of the fuel cell industry. Research focuses on Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC), Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC) and Systems Integration, Testing and Evaluation. Facilities include nine hydrogen-ready labs and a hydrogen-ready environmental chamber controlled for temperature, humidity and altitude. The Institute's Technology Accelerator allows companies to co-locate at NRC and benefit first-hand from the expertise and facilities.
